Paralegal/Legal Assistant/Law Clerk

We are currently seeking a bright, enthusiastic paralegal/legal assistant or law clerk to join our team. We are committed to social justice and help workers/employees exclusively.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting initial phone intakes with prospective clients — a primary duty
  • Providing client support, including by emailing and calling them
  • Drafting letters
  • Drafting legal documents under supervision of attorney, including pleadings and written discovery
  • Conducting legal research and cite-checking
  • Fact gathering and retrieving information and documents
  • Processing and entering data
  • Answering phones
  • Scanning/organizing/filing documents, sorting incoming mail
  • Running errands (as this is a small practice, some personal assistant help may be needed)

Skills needed:

  • Strong communication skills (including a terrific phone demeanor)
  • Excellent writing and proof-reading skills
  • Smart, analytical thinker who is a quick learner
  • Highly organized, very detail-oriented, strong administrative skills
  • Professional and reliable
  • Good people skills, friendly and upbeat
  • Tech savvy, comfortable with Adobe Acrobat, Word/WordPerfect, Google Apps
  • Takes direction well, takes initiative, and takes responsibility for work
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Understands ethical and confidentiality requirements to firm and its clients
  • Takes pride in growing skills and knowledge
  • Good, upbeat attitude and willing to take on whatever tasks the firm needs


  • A college degree.
  • A paralegal certificate, paralegal experience, or a strong interest in going to law school (describe in your cover letter).
  • Employment law experience or a commitment to employment law/civil rights is a plus.


Compensation varies, depending on experience and skill level. Benefits for full-time employees include health insurance, life insurance, potential retirement plan participation, paid holidays, vacation pay, and sick time.
